House, known for its innovative approach within the legal sector, is launching a unique series of courses focused on the future of corporate legal. These courses, developed by experienced in-house legal counsels, combine theory with practical experience and directly tie in with House's mission: Legal for Tomorrow.

What makes these courses special?
House's courses are the first in the Netherlands to be specifically developed by and for corporate lawyers. This makes them particularly pragmatic and directly applicable in practice. The unique combination of theory and practical experience helps participants to gain new knowledge and to use it effectively within their own organizations. “These courses are a way to strengthen the role of corporate lawyers and give them the tools to truly help companies contribute to a better world of tomorrow,” said Maaike Roet, CEO & Founder of House.

Why this step?
The launch of the courses fits in seamlessly with House's mission: Legal for Tomorrow. House believes that corporate lawyers play a crucial role in realizing change within organizations. Whether it concerns sustainability, innovative thinking or utilizing technological progress: the content of the courses is tailored to the challenges of today and tomorrow. With this offering, House wants to offer corporate lawyers the opportunity to actually get started with this content in practice.
"The corporate lawyer is often seen as the conscience of the company. With these courses, we want to strengthen corporate lawyers in their crucial role as a driver of change," says Maaike Roet.

ESG-course for Legal Counsels

ESG-course for Legal Counsels

ESG course for Legal Counsels
We are pleased to announce that House will organize the 'ESG course for Legal Counsels' course in the autumn of 2024, with Nienke Schroots as teacher. Corporate legal departments are increasingly asked to advise on Environmental, Social & Governance ('ESG') issues. Consider: ESG reporting obligations, ESG policy documents, ESG risks, ESG contractual clauses and sustainability claims. The ESG playing field is broad and developing at a rapid pace.
In-house legal counsel, who often have to deal with increasingly complex tasks, often struggle to keep up with developments in the ESG field. This practical ESG course has been developed for in-house legal counsel who want to become acquainted with ESG and who are looking for practical tools to apply in their daily advice to companies and business partners. The ESG course is given at a beautiful location on the Amsterdam canals (Garden House) and in an informal setting, where there is plenty of room for exchange of experience and mutual dialogue.

Program – ESG course for Legal Counsels

  • Dates: September 19, October 10, November 7 & November 28, 2024
  • Duration: from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

House Team lunch: 5 years!

House Team lunch: 5 years!

Last May 17, our House Team celebrated House's 5th anniversary with a festive lunch in Café Amsterdam. From pioneer to established name in flexible, high-quality and business-minded legal services. Great customers, great partnerships, House Talks, General Counsel Mentoring and Legal Team Sessions, a top House Team and high-quality House Flexpool and more to come. We are not done yet and continue with our mission. Legal for tomorrow!

House: 5 years!

House: 5 years!

Wow, to be honest, we were (also) surprised ourselves. This year House has been around for 5 years! House was founded in 2019 based on the vision that flexible legal work can be different and better, especially for the self-employed corporate lawyer, working from freedom and expertise for great companies and brands in a sustainable way. Customers can count on 'on-demand' legal support from enterprising and friendly legal counsel.

Our founder Maaike Roet has worked for many years as an employment law attorney-partner and as an interim corporate lawyer. House was created from her experiences and the drive to show companies that legal business support does not only have to be complicated, expensive and long-term, as well as the need to help other independent corporate lawyers with great assignments.

Over the past 5 years, House has grown into the 'go-to' partner for flexible corporate legal advice with a steady House Team of 30 legal counsels and a carefully selected flexible team of 100 independent corporate lawyers. We're going to celebrate that this year!

New vision House of Lawyers leads to new name: House. Legal for tomorrow

Written by Maaike Roet - CEO & Founder House

House. Legal for tomorrow is the new name of House of Lawyers. This name change is the result of their new vision for Legal.

"We believe that with legal we can contribute to a better world for tomorrow," says Maaike Roet, CEO and Founder of the legal services provider. "We support companies that operate sustainably and make an impact. We do that by deploying flexible legal counsels."

The Why
“As a legal counsel with the law at your disposal, you have the ideal position and 'tools' to initiate positive change," continues Roet. "There is a growing group of businesses and impact organizations that are forming the global movement for a more just and sustainable economy. For example B-Corps; these are companies that believe it is important to pursue not only financial value, but also value for people and the environment.”

“House. Legal for tomorrow wants to make a positive impact on the world by supporting these companies in the legal field. We believe that the time is ripe for it and that society also expects from legal counsels to take a step forward. For example by implementing the 'UN Sustainable Development Goals' in a company's code of conduct."

New name and look
"We felt that we also needed to reflect this new vision and mission in our name and appearance. This resulted in the name House. Legal for tomorrow, but also a new corporate identity and website. With our House Talks on impact and innovation in legal and with our legal blogs, we will continue to pay attention to this important vision and mission. If you want to stay informed, please sign up for the newsletter at www.house.legal."
